The Service

JAIL provides a local search engine and optional hosted API for searching pre-built document indices. The software is open source (Apache 2.0).

Free Tier

The open source CLI is free to use, modify, and redistribute under the Apache 2.0 license. No account required.

Pro Subscription

Pro subscriptions are billed monthly through Creem.
You can cancel anytime from your billing portal.
Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis — just ask.

Acceptable Use

Don't use the service to:

Redistribute copyrighted content obtained through search results
Attempt to scrape or bulk-download the entire search index
Use the API in a way that degrades service for other users

Data & Indices

Pre-built indices contain metadata and publicly available content. Each index's data license is documented in the README. We make reasonable efforts to respect original data licenses.

JAIL is provided "as is" without warranty. Search results may contain inaccuracies. We are not responsible for the content of indexed documents.

Changes

We may update these terms. Continued use after changes means you accept the new terms.
